The John Mayer Trio was the brainchild of pop sensation John Mayer, who, in 2005, decided to move his music in a new direction, pursuing a more blues-influenced style and paying homage to the great musicians of his childhood days. In October 2005, they toured as the opening act for The Rolling Stones on some dates. In March of 2006, John Mayer announced that the trio would disband, marking Mayer's return to solo performing. Mayer's next album Continuum will include songs by the Trio, and is due out on September 12, 2006./
