Reel Big Fish is a Southern California third wave ska band best known for their 1997 hit "Sell Out." Reel Big Fish gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s, following the success of ska/ punk bands like No Doubt and Sublime. Somewhat of a one-hit wonder, Reel Big Fish's first major-label album, "Turn the Radio Off," vastly outsold their subsequent albums, but the band is also known for their songs "Beer," "She Has a Girlfriend Now," "Where Have You Been?," "Cheer Up" and their covers of a-ha's "Take On Me" and Frank Sinatra's song "New York, New York."Reel Big Fish's major-label debut was on Mojo Records, then owned by Universal Records. Mojo was later sold to Jive Records. Both labels released two full-length original Reel Big Fish albums, along with several singles and reissues. After several years of dissatisfaction, in 2006, Jive Records dropped Reel Big Fish from its roster, much to the band's delight. The band hopes to use its independent status to pursue more projects, including a live CD/ DVD set, and a split CD with their tour-mates./
