Tierney Sutton (b. June 28, 1963) is an American jazz singer.Sutton was born in Wisconsin and was educated at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal Competition in 1998. She released her first solo CD Introducing Tierney Sutton, in 1999, which was nominated for a 1999 Indie Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Since then she has released five other albums under the Telarc jazz label: Unsung Heroes (2000), Blue in Green (2001), Something Cool (2002), Dancing in the Dark (2004), and I'm with the Band (2005).Dancing in the Dark, "inspired by the music of Frank Sinatra," debuted in the Billboard Jazz top 10 and remained on the charts for over 15 weeks. Sutton performed to rave reviews at and commercial success at New York’s legendary Oak Room. She debuted at Carnegie Hall in February 2005, soloing with the New York Pops.In December 2005 I'm with the Band was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Jazz Vocal Album.Sutton currently performs with pianist Christian Jacob, bassists Trey Henry and Kevin Axt, and drummer Ray Brinker.She has been a Baha'i since 1981
