Brazilian Girls are a quartet from New York City known for their eclectic blend of electronic dance music with everything from samba and reggae to house and lounge styles. The band has described their sound as "melting pop." None of the members is actually from Brazil, and only lead singer Sabina Sciubba is a girl. Didi Gutman plays keyboards for the band, Aaron Johnston plays the drums and Jesse Murphy plays the bass. The band released their self titled debut album in 2005 to much critical acclaim, while developing a strong fan base with their energetic live show.//The daughter of Italian and German parents, Sciubba was born in Rome and grew up in Munich and Nice. Growing up she learned to speak German, Spanish, French, Italian and English, which she regularly incorporates into her singing today (all five languages are featured on their debut album).Sciubba first came to record buyers' attention when she recorded two jazz albums - You Don't Know What Love Is with pianist Chris Anderson and Meet Me in London with guitarist Antonio Forcione, for the English audiophile label Naim. The band formed in 2003, while jamming at the New York club Nublu. Sciubba described her meeting with the men of Brazilian Girls as "love at first sight and it moved as fast as the Autobahn." While playing a weekly gig at Nublu, the band wrote many of the original songs that would appear on their debut album
