Long Beach Jam, an expansion team in the new American Basketball Association, were coached in their inaugural season by Earl Cureton.Former members include Dennis Rodman, Derrick Dial, Juaquin Hawkins, and Yuta Tabuse, all former NBA players, and DerMarr Johnson, who is currently with the Denver Nuggets.In May 2005, the Long Beach Jam withdrew from the American Basketball Association, citing a lack of stability and structure within the league. As a result, they have applied for admission to the NBA Development League for the 2006-07 season. The team will relocate to Bakersfield.They were the ABA champions in 2004
