Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies were an ECHL hockey team located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, playing in the historic Boardwalk Hall, which seated 6,979. The franchise moved to Atlantic City from Birmingham, Alabama and played their inaugural season in 2001. In 2003, the team won the Kelly Cup, beating the Columbia Inferno in the finals. Even though the Bullies found success on the ice, the team failed to draw strong attendance (slightly above 3,000 a game their championship year), and on February 3, 2005, it was announced that the Boardwalk Bullies had been sold to an ownership group that planned to relocate the team to Stockton, California for the 2005-06 season, renaming them the Stockton Thunder. The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies were an ECHL hockey team located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, playing in the historic Boardwalk Hall, which seated 6,979.
