She is a former lawyer and prosecutor. Star graduated from Notre Dame High School (Lawrenceville) for high school and she earned her B.A. at American University and got her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Houston.Before The View, Jones had become a well-known legal commentator on television. She was first recruited by Court TV in 1991 for the William Kennedy Smith rape trial, and spent several years as a legal correspondent for NBC's The Today Show and NBC Nightly News. She left NBC in 1994 to host her own court show Jones & Jury. Following its cancellation, she was then hired as chief legal analyst on Inside Edition, where she covered the O. J. Simpson murder trial and was the only one to interview him during his civil trial.Jones has written two books. The first book was called You Have to Stand for Something, or You'll Fall for Anything. In January of 2006, Jones published her second book, Shine : A Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Journey to Finding Love, detailing changes she made to re-shape her life, including her dramatic weight loss.Jones Reynolds' future status on The View has come into question in the wake of the hiring of Rosie O'Donnell as a new show co-host.
