Angela Bofill is an American R&B and jazz-fusion contralto vocalist and songwriter. Her father was Cuban and her mother Puerto Rican. Born in the Bronx in New York City, she performed with Ricardo Morrero & the Group and Dance Theater of Harlem chorus prior to her 1978 debut album, Angie.In 1980, she performed at the 4th Annual Bread & Roses concert in Berkeley, California.Bofill predates Jennifer Lopez, and Christina Milian as the original NYC-area Latina soul diva./
