Mary Mary is an American gospel music duo, consisting of sisters Erica and Trecina "Tina" Atkins, known for bringing contemporary gospel to a new level of popularity in the 2000s by introducing elements of soul music and hip hop.//The Atkins sisters grew up as part of a large family in Inglewood, California. Their parents were gospel singers themselves, and the sisters quickly entered the world of church choirs, travelling gospel shows, and some television productions. The sisters began songwriting, and gained success in the music industry for their work. "Dance" appeared in the 1998 film Dr. Dolittle and "Let Go, Let God" appeared on one of the soundtracks for the film The Prince of Egypt in that same year. Other songs of theirs were recorded by Yolanda Adams and 702.The duo was subsequently signed to Columbia Records and decided to perform under the name Mary Mary, honoring Mary, the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Their first single, "Shackles (Praise You)" became a gospel, R&B, and even pop hit in 2000 and peaked at #28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was followed by their first album, Thankful, which would go on to win the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album, and a second single, "I Sings". Peaking at #1 on the Gospel album chart and at #59 of the overall Top 200 chart, Thankful was certified Platinum for sales of 1 million copies in the USA

Students from St. Mary's School in Sherman recently competed in an archery tournament at Ennis as part of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). The tournament, the first of the year, drew 200 young archers.
