Newcastle United Football Club is an English professional football team based in Newcastle upon Tyne, nicknamed the "Magpies", who currently play in the FA Premier League. They won their first match 5-0 against Elswick Leather Works 2nd XI. Meanwhile, across the city, another cricket club began to take an interest in football and in August 1882, they formed Newcastle West End FC.
