Peabo Bryson (born Robert Peabo Bryson on April 13, 1951) is an American R&B and soul singer, born in Greenville, South Carolina. He is well known for singing soft-rock ballads, often as a duo with female singers, and his contribution to several Disney animated feature soundtracks.Bryson won a Grammy Award in 1992 for his performance of the song "Beauty and the Beast" with Céline Dion and another in 1993 for "A Whole New World" (Aladdin's Theme) with Regina Belle.Peabo's greatest solo hit was the 1985 hit "If Ever You're In My Arms Again".Among his duets:Bryson has also performed in theater and operatic productions, most notably the tenor role of "Sportin' Life" in the Michigan Opera Theater of Detroit's version of Porgy and Bess. Peabo also sang the theme song for Soap Opera One Life to Live from 1987-92However, his tax problems caught up with him on August 21, 2003, when the U.S. Internal Revenue Service seized property from his Atlanta, Georgia, home. Gospel stars CeCe Winans, Elbernita "Twinkie" Clark and Donald Lawrence will be saluted by their peers in a musical tribute in Nashville. Kirk Franklin, Faith Evans, Karen Clark-Sheard and Donnie McClurkin will be among the performers at BMI's Trailblazers of Gospel luncheon on Jan. 16. Winans helped expand the boundaries of gospel music with hits such as "Say a Prayer" and "Addictive Love."
