Over the Rhine (or OTR, as they are sometimes referred to) are an Ohio-based musical band. Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist (husband and wife) are the musicians who form the core of Over the Rhine.Over the Rhine was formed in the spring of 1989 and in 1991 they released their first album Till We Have Faces. They started as a quartet with guitarist Ric Hordinski and drummer Brian Kelley, but have both toured and recorded in many shapes and forms. They have opened for Bob Dylan and toured with Cowboy Junkies. Paste Magazine granted one of its first five-star reviews to Over The Rhine's album Ohio.Their music is characterized by the musical and songwriting talents of Linford (keyboards and acoustic guitar) and Karin (vocals, keyboards and acoustic guitar).Linford has also recorded and released three solo projects composed of home-recorded acoustic music.OTR's latest studio album, entitled Drunkard's Prayer, was released on March 29, 2005, on Virgin/Back Porch Records. A live album entitled Live from Nowhere, Vol. I was released in April 2006.Their name comes from a neighborhood called Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the band got its start, incidentally also the poor neighborhood that served as a starting point for an uprising against police brutality in April 2001 after the police shooting of Timothy Thomas

His parents, both raised on Amish farms, kicked the TV out of the house early on and eschewed the consumerism and "insult to our intelligence" ...
