The Colorado Mammoth is a member of the National Lacrosse League, a professional sports league in North America. They have played at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, since the 2002-2003 season. In 2004 they became the league's attendance leader, beating the Toronto Rock out closely. In 2006, they again came away with the league attendance record, beating out rivals Calgary. In 20 years, 2006 was the first year that the league had an attendance of one million fans in one season. The Colorado Mammoth had the honor of hosting fan number one million, an honor that commissioner Jim Jennings believes to be rightfully theirs, given the impact they had on the league's attendance this year. They are owned by E. Stanley Kroenke who is also the owner of the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Crush (AFL) and the Colorado Rapids (MLS).They had previously been the Baltimore Thunder from 1987 to 1999, the Pittsburgh CrosseFire from 1999 to 2000 and the Washington Power from 2000 to 2002. As the Baltimore Thunder had played in Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL) from 1987 to 1997 where in 1987 they won the MILL championshipIn the 2006 season, the Mammoth went to the playoffs in the #2 seed in the Western Division. Round one was hosted in Colorado against rivals Calgary. The Mammoth won in a spectacular overtime game of 18-17. Brian Langtry scored the overtime goal. Round two (Western Division finals) was also hosted at Pepsi Center against the Arizona Sting. Again, Mammoth won in an amazing 13-12 game. The game-winning goal was scored by rookie Dan Carey.
