Pilot Pen Tennis is a professional tennis tournament held in New Haven, Connecticut, since 1990 (when it was called the Volvo International. The tournament takes place just before the beginning of the fourth and last Grand Slam tournament of the season, the U.S. Open. Between 1998 and 2004 the New Haven site did not host a men's tournament, but the event gave its name to the ATP tournament in Long Island (under the name of Pilot Pen International). In 2005 the men's event returned to New Haven, where it runs in conjunction with a WTA Tour women's draw.The Pilot Pen is also a part of the US Open Series, a six-week summer tennis season of 10 major North American tournaments linked to the US Open./
