Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (Bonnaroo, or 'Roo for short) is an annual rock festival by Superfly Productions and AC Entertainment, first held in 2002. The festival is held on a 700 acre (2.4 km²) farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles southeast of Nashville, Tennessee. The main attractions of the festival are the multiple stages of live music, featuring mostly jam bands (categorized as progressive fusion), but also including hip hop, jazz, Americana, electronica, and other alternative music. The festival features craftsman and artisans selling unique products, several food and drink vendors, and many other activities from various sponsors. The Bonnaroo 2006 ran from June 16-18 with more than 80,000 in attendance. Law enforcement officials from Coffee County Sherriff's department said drug related arrests were down but theft had increased. There were 2 deaths during the festival. The first death occurred when 21 year old Joshua Overall attempted to jump a fence and cross I-24. He was struck and killed by a tour bus carrying bluegrass performer Ricky Skaggs. The second death was that of a contractor who fell from the back of a moving truck. Unlike previous years, weather was not an issue, as there was no measurable precipitation until midway through the final act on Sunday evening. The first half hour of Radiohead's set was plagued with technical difficulties involving the large TV monitors.Although there were many outstanding peformances across the festival, many agree that Radiohead's peformance stole the show. The band played one of their longest gigs to date, a massive twenty-eight song, two and a half hour show. Frontman Thom Yorke was able to capture the crowd via his energetic, unorthdox style of dancing. A highlight for most in attendence was the thousands of glowsticks being thrown near the end of Radiohead's peformance. Many believe that Radiohead's peformance will mark a shift in Bonnaroo's jam band line-up to a more mainstream cast. However, many other shows also stole the entire festival. Those include Medeski Martin and Wood's performance with DJ Logic and G Love. Also, the Saturday late night shows hit hard with a funk fest put on by Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk. Even a DJ made some big noise as Sasha played from 3:30 till 6am that evening. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band was featured in their own tent for three days and nights. On Sunday that tent was taken over by the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus which performed all day and put on a late night Saturday cabaret show with the Dresden Dolls
