Edward Joseph Mahoney, aka Eddie Money, (born [[March 21], 1949) is a rock musician. He released his first album in 1977 with his first hit, "Baby Hold On," hitting the Top 20. On the same album, another hit was "Two Tickets to Paradise" (number 22), and on later albums, hits included "Shakin,'" "Think I'm In Love," "I Wanna Go Back," "Walk on Water," and "Take Me Home Tonight", garnering even greater fame. Co-sung with Ronnie Spector, "Take Me Home Tonight" peaked in the top 10, a very high peak for an artist who made his debut almost a decade earlier. In the early 1970s, he attended the New York Police Academy to become a New York police officer. He worked briefly at the NYPD, an experience he described jokingly to Joan Rivers as working undercover, adding "Yeah, I was an undercover typist!" He soon found his calling as a singer. He moved first to Los Angeles, then to San Francisco. By 1976, he signed to CBS Records as a prodigy under the late promoter Bill Graham.Eddie Money was one of the original artists to reach out to fans with MTV, as he pioneered the music video fad. Creating some thirty music videos, Eddie Money was not shy of the small screen. Eddie still remains on tour today, with an average of sixty shows a year. Money is quoted with saying, "I love doing what I do, why change that?" Versatile on the piano, harmonica, and a vibrant saxophonist, Money is a big fan of crowds whom he calls his "friends," saying, "I don't do it for the money, I do it for you!" Money has appeared on a number of television series including The King of Queens and The Drew Carey Show, where he played Mimi's ex-husband who could not give up his first love and sign the divorce papers. (He was later duped into signing for an autograph). Money resides in California and Florida, and is very active in his involvement with the St. Jude's Hospital, and other support for sick children
