Houston Bowl is a post-season NCAA-sanctioned Division I-A college football bowl game that has been played annually in Houston, Texas, since 2000. Initially played at the Reliant Astrodome (2000-2001), the venue for the games was moved to 69,500-seat Reliant Stadium in 2002.The game was formerly known as the galleryfurniture.com Bowl from 2000 to 2001 and is now known as the EV1.net Houston Bowl.Recently, speculation has surfaced questioning the long-term survival of the Houston Bowl. The three-year contract with EV1.net expired on December 31, 2005, leaving the bowl game without a title sponsor. A college football official told the Houston Chronicle that the bowl was in danger of ceasing operations, as a result of the game losing its title sponsor and because the Houston Bowl still owed roughly $600,000 to the Big 12 and Mountain West conferences following the 2005 game [1]. The NCAA has delayed their decision on the fate of the Houston Bowl until June 2006 [2]./
