P.O.D. is a Christian Nu Metal band from San Diego, California. The letters P.O.D. stand for Payable On Death. The band's name comes from a Bible verse about how all the sins we commit are payable upon death, referring to the day one will stand before God upon their death.//P.O.D.'s music is influenced by rap, alternative metal, Latin, and reggae.While the exact date of formation remains unknown, friends Marcos Curiel and Wuv Bernardo engaged in jam sessions without a vocalist. After his mother's fatal illness, Sonny Sandoval converted to Christianity, saying that he saw God in her eyes as she died; he joined P.O.D in 1991. Traa Daniels joined the band in 1994 when they needed a bassist for a concert. Before this time, they had a bassist named Gabe Portillo who appeared on the original demo tape of 1991
